Fabulous Finds in February

I don't know about you, but a trip to Target doesn't feel complete unless I've peeked through the dollar section. Target is my favorite store on the planet and the dollar section is the icing on the cake. Sometimes the dollar section rocks my socks off and sometimes it leaves much to be desired. I love checking out the dollar section because I love finding cheap, cute things for my classroom.

This weekend I had the opportunity to stop by another store that sometimes has cheap, cute things for the classroom, Dollar Tree. It's been months since I've been to Dollar Tree and I was pretty excited to snatch up some things for my kiddos.

Here are some of my fantastic finds!

First up are some pencil flags that I picked up for my students for state testing in the spring. I love these because they can still have access to their erasers and their pencils will look fun and festive! It's about time pencils started accessorizing.

I also found these peanut butter and jelly paper cut outs. They're too cute! I plan on laminating them and sticking them on popsicle sticks so that the students can hold them while they're on the rug talking with partners. We always have one partner be the peanut butter (or almond butter for my peanut-allergy friend...her request) and one partner be the jelly. This will just be a fun addition to partner work.

Finally I found sticker charts and stickers that I'm going to start using for one of my homework-less buddies. It's my newest idea for this little guy who cannot for the life of him bring his homework back. If he can bring it each day for one week and fill up a row of the chart he can go in my prize box. Yeah that's right, the prize box that is in the back of my cupboard that the other students don't even know about. I'm ready to bust it out for this friend as the other eleventy million ideas I've tried haven't worked. It doesn't help when mom says, "He just doesn't WANT to do his homework." Mmmmmkkk. So we'll give this a go. A little bribery never hurt anyone.

I'd love to hear about some fabulous finds you've come across lately!
Leave me a comment, it'll make my day!

  2. That's so cute that the student requested to be called almond butter! You really found some great stuff - love the peanut butter and jelly partner idea. And don't you just love when parents say their kid just "doesn't want to" do something?? Oh goodness...!

  3. Love the peanut/almond butter and jelly idea. I also love the term "Homework-less", that is a very polite way of saying it!
