Birthday Giveaway

Hi Friends!

We're about 32 days from the end of the school year- I think I can! I think I can! And it's just about one week until my birthday. Just like in elementary school when you bring treats for your OWN birthday, I thought I'd bring a treat to you to help me celebrate! I asked some other great bloggers to help me out with a giveaway and they were kind enough to donate some great products.

The giveaway will end on April 28th, so check out some of the great things you can win before it's too late!

By the way, if you haven't checked out the collaborative blog that I'm a part of, you must! We're doing a Saturdays in Spring series where we're posting some great freebies every Saturday for you to snag. I'll also be posting over there later this week about some organization ideas I use in my classroom.
Don't miss out, just click the picture below!

February Update, a Freebie, and a Giveaway!

Stopping in today to share some of the things we've been up to in second grade, a freebie, and a giveaway!

We celebrated the 100th Day of School and celebrated with 100th Day Centers. One of the centers was to build a 100 cup structure. Here are some of the kiddos with their structure.
We also celebrated Valentine's Day by making The Teacher Wife's love monster bags to hold our cards. The bags turned out so cute! We used them throughout the day to hold all of our Valentine's Day papers and projects we created, as well as our Valentine's Day cards, and they were perfect to carry home at the end of the day. The back of the bags included a little bio about the monster and the students were pretty creative. I love sneaking writing in to art projects.
We've been working on personal narrative writing and "staying in the moment." We're currently writing about a time we got hurt, and I can't wait to read my students' final drafts! Here's the template we've been using to sketch out our beginnings, middles, and ends, and write our narratives.
Feel free to grab this freebie if you'd like!

Outside of second grade, I'm excited to announce that I'm part of a new, fun collaborative blog called The Collaboration Connection.
Collaboration Connection
It's a fantastic group of teachers, clipart creators, and specialists! We're kicking off the blog with a huge giveaway and would love for you to win some great products! Click on the picture to check it out!
I can't believe the end of February is drawing near! I love seeing all of the daffodils popping up around town letting me know spring is coming soon!

Monday Made It #1 and a Small Giveaway

Monday- not as dreaded in the summer time!

Today I am linking up with 4th Grade Frolics for Monday Made It. A first timer here!

I spent some time this weekend working on decorating block letters to spruce up my classroom library. I was inspired by Traditions, Laughter, and Happily Ever After's post last Monday. I picked up some block letters and scrapbook paper at Michael's and got to work.

I envision these letters sitting on the top of my library shelves and didn't want them to knock over easily. I added some little wooden blocks to the back for support.

I'm very happy with how they turned out. I'm toying with the idea of adding a blue flower or two, but am still unsure. Thoughts?

I also spent time this weekend working on a new TPT product that I'm excited about.

I always take pictures of my students on the first day of school and print them out for Back to School Night. I have the students hold a printed sign that says, "First Day of Second Grade." The parents always love these pictures, and one mom even told me on the last day of school that the picture was still on the refrigerator and it's one of her favorites of her daughter.

I started thinking that I'd like a black and white polka dot sign for my students this year, to match my classroom.

Well...one sign turned in to a bunch of other ideas for black and white back to school items for my classroom. Postcards, a welcome banner, bin labels and more.

If it looks like something you'd be interested in, leave me a comment. I'll choose two random comments tonight to win this pack for free!

Don't forget to link up your Monday Made It!

Giveaway and a Freebie

Happy Sunday! My back is still messed up but I am determined to get moving today. I haven't left the house since Thursday and am going a little stir-crazy. Thank goodness this is all happening when school is out, but at the same time, this is all happening when SCHOOL IS OUT! Ya know?

Today I'm popping on to tell you about a fantastic giveaway that I'm a part of, and to bring you a little freebie. First up, Sara from Miss V's Busy Bees is having a One Year Blogiversary Giveaway and she has an amazing amount of prizes for you!

I was playing around on the computer this morning and made a little freebie for ya. It can be used for pretty much anything. As a cover to TPT products, a binder cover, as a poster, whatever. If you do happen to download it, all I ask is for a comment. I'd love to hear what you plan to do with it. Click the link below to download.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Bachelor Hangover and a Giveaway

First of all- it should be illegal to have the time change and the season finale of The Bachelor a day apart. That show is three hours long for Pete's sake! 11 pm and I don't meet often on school nights. And it's not a show you can DVR and wait to watch later, because whether you mean to or not, you'll find out who "the chosen one" was in some way. Slap that on top of losing an hour of sleep the day before and it's a recipe for disaster. I did not want to get out of bed yesterday. I had a bachelor hangover. A bachelover. Luckily the student that points out when I look tired was absent yesterday, because she would've had some great material to work with.

Anywho, just popping in today to tell you about an incredible giveaway that a fellow second grade blogger is having. Have you seen Hippo Hooray for Second Grade's 200 Follower Giveaway? It is in.cred.i.ble. There are FIVE prize packages and she's bundled them up by grade level- so smart!

Giveaway and Blogs by State

My to-do list is a bazillion miles long and yet here I sit, watching The Bachelor-Women Tell All episode, blogging, and procrastinating report card comments. Again. I'm really running out of time to procrastinate.

Two quick tidbits of info. First up, check out Kickin' it in Kindergarten's 101 Follower Giveaway. There are a ton of prizes for this mega giveaway, including something from my store!

Also, have you checked out Fifth in the Middle's Blog by State list? Link up your blog with the state your are writing from and put the button on your blog. It's a great way to see which state your favorite bloggers are from and which blogs are from your very own state.

The Bachelor and Field Trips

I am on pins and needles watching The Bachelor and waiting to find out who Sean sends home. To alleviate the stress I'm here to distract myself by writing up tomorrow's blog post tonight!

The second grade classes at my school have three exciting field trips coming up so I've been knee deep in field trip forms, chaperone permission slips, etc. I put together this field trip communication pack to communicate with the parents about the field trips, what students need to bring, and more! The forms are in English and Spanish.

If you're interested in the field trip communication pack you check it out at my TPT Store
The first two commenters on my blog that leave their email addresses can snag it up for free!

As far as The Bachelor goes, the girl I've been "rooting" for has gone home pretty much every week. Except Tierra, I was never rooting for her. She was cray! So I'm pretty much guessing my favorite of the last three is headed home. I'm off to find out!

MLK Giveaway

We are back in the swing of things after Winter Break and it almost feels like we never left. I always get nervous that over the break the students are going to forget all of the rules and procedures we've worked so hard to establish the first part of the school year. In actuality, it's usually me that forgets the procedures. Hah. Good thing I have the students there to keep me on my toes.

I can't believe it's almost the middle of January already! This week we are wrapping up some New Year's projects and next week we will be learning about Martin Luther King, Jr. If you're going to be discussing M.L.K. you should head over to Kickin' It in Kindergarten's blog for her MLK Giveaway

She's going to be choosing five winners for her MLK Activity Pack. I especially love the page where the students get to write what their dream for the world is.

Speaking of giveaways, there are only a couple days left to enter my 100 Follower Giveaway! Take a minute or two to check it out, there's 10 fantastic prizes! Just click the image below!

Happy Wednesday!
