October Currently

Happy October! I love this month. I love all things fall- scarves, boots, pumpkins, the colors of the leaves on the trees. I also love Farley's Currently's

Listening: To last night's episode of Dancing with the Stars. It's amazing that I haven't already heard who was eliminated via Facebook or some other source.

Loving: That students are getting out of school at 11:45 all week for Parent-Teacher Conferences. Just enough time for me to be stressed, but not over-stressed.

Thinking: About the best way to help some of my students. Isn't it funny the random times that they pop into our minds? Always trying to figure out better ways to help each little kidling.

Wanting: A pumpkin spice latte. I had never had one until last week and it was pretty yummy! It fits into my fall repertoire quite nicely.

Needing: To do some stretches. I can feel my back and shoulders tensing up and need to go work it out.

Trick or Treat: Trick- Music for transitions. This isn't some new and exciting idea, that's for sure, but it's something new to me. I've never used music for transitions before, but my class this year really responds to it. This morning I forgot to use one of the transition songs, and they let me know right away! Their favorite song is our end of the day "pack it up, stack it up (chairs), line up" song- "The Final Countdown." It's a catchy 80's tune. I try to use songs that may be familiar and aren't too Dr. Jean-y. Nothing against Dr. Jean, I own the c.d.'s, but sometimes the sing-songy songs drive me bananas.

Head on over to Farley's blog and link up your October currently!

  1. Ohhhh, the pumpkin spice latte! I have not tried it for fear of utter addiction, they look AMAZING! By the way, the pics you posted of your classroom from August are adorable!

  2. I love that song idea for the end of the day. Looks like I will be adding that to my classroom play list.

  3. PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE. Yum. Obsession.

LOVE your blog name, super cute! Glad I found you!

  4. I wish we had a week were students were let out early for parent conferences. What a great opportunity to get to speak to parents one on one!! Thanks for sharing.

  5. I sing to my kids for every transition in our day! Sometimes I just make a direction sing songy and rhyme-y if I can and they LOVE it and respond to well!

  6. We have parent teacher conferences next Wednesday and Thursday and then fall break on Friday. I am definitely looking forward to it! Good luck this week in your conferences. :)

  7. Yum to your pumpkin spice latte!! That sounds delicious and very "fall like!!"

Good luck as you head into conferences!

  8. I love using songs for tranisition! I need new ones though! When students are too chatty i sing "I am waiting, I am waiting, yes I am, yes I am" to Fara Jacka :)
